RACEHORSE REHOMING: CHURO

Updated: Aug 29, 2023

UPDATE: Churo has been rehomed to an amazing person who will retrain him for eventing. I am very excited to watch his journey with his new human.

Churo is an exceptionally handsome, 4-year-old chestnut gelding. He is being retired as he is too slow and his heart is not in it. His first and last race was 12 August. He has had a few preparations but he has not really shown any interest in racing. The owner has made a quick decision to rehome him.

Churo is lightly raced (one trial, one race) and is sound. He is approx 16hh and should develop into a solid type. He is considered good to handle and stands well for the farrier etc. One of his trackwork riders says he is pretty straightforward and has a lovely trot and canter, he did say he was a bit slow walking to the track. He also said he does not bolt, buck, rear or shy. I find him very friendly, he likes people and has a lovely curiosity. He likes to greet you and hang out, and he is well-liked with the staff which says a lot. I think he could do just about anything but would be an amazing all-rounder, working equitation horse, eventer, liberty and/or trail riding partner. He is still growing and in a slightly awkward phase atm.

You will need to be experienced with off-the-track horses and understand that you are getting a fit horse, trained to race. You will need to educate him to do another job. To the best of my knowledge, he has only been trucked so you will need to teach him how to float. He is not to be raced.

He will go to someone I know or someone who can be vouched for by someone I know and we will consider a professional retrainer for this guy (if I know you). Please fill out an EOI if you are interested.
