Rocky is approximately 16,2/16.3hh, 5 years old and a lovely rich chestnut. He is very handsome and has had 18 starts. Rocky is athletic and strong. I have always got on very well with him and like hanging out with him, I find him friendly (not everyone would agree). He responds well to a confident, mindful and quiet person.
I am told he is a very comfortable, responsive horse to ride. He had a great foundation and was started by Shane Rose, he was also returned to Shane for further training prior to this last prep. During the last visit, he was also jumped. He can be strong on the ground. You will need to be confident and experienced with a young, strong athletic horse. I feel he will be an amazing horse in the right hands. He will need some time off to heal a tendon injury, he is currently in a paddock with two mature horses (and 7 million deer) and he is not lame. When I went to see him to take photos, he approached me for a cuddle and then looked handsome, albeit muddy for the camera. He has had 4 weeks box rest and has been in the paddock since 16 September. He will need another few months off before coming back in to work but that should give him a nice amount of time to let down and get used to a different life. A vet check is welcome.
One of Rocky's regular riders has said, "Rocky is a pretty sensational ride, works lovely in a soft frame and you can easily move him off the leg. He always appreciated a loose rein to walk home on so he could practice his long and low. He definitely will need someone with ample experience because he can be a handful on the ground at times but I have faith that with time he will unwind and adjust to a new environment where he can find enjoyment."
